Commet on 'Transgenic fish go large'

This is really getting out of hand. The tremendous increase of genetically altered food products will indefinitely and adversely alter the human species. As the genetic makeup of the human race adapts and mutates to the genetically altered food sources, humans as a whole are in for a world of WAKE-UP! While focusing on the prize of the big dollar, AquaBounty’s chief executive Ronald Stotish does not foresee the everlasting effects of this new product. Disturbing the natural order of things that are set in motion by God himself is a tragedy waiting to happen. I understand the over population of the world is of major concern, but altering the genetic makeup of food sources should not be an answer. I admit it could be an alternative, but it should be put on the back burner until real solutions can be devised.

Comment on 'Professor's book touches on complicated social development, geography'

So true….So true. There’s nothing like a little pressure to get things moving. Humans are not exempt from this. Morris Theorem:  “Change is caused by lazy, greedy, frightened people looking for easier, more profitable and safer ways to do things. And they rarely know what they’re doing,” is a key component to understanding just how far humans will go to satisfy their own needs. I agree that soon these needs will trump what is better for the geography of the world. Settling people will converge on settled people in order to escape the climate change of their land. As a result, war in many forms, whether civilized or gorilla, will ensue. Morris calls it “the arc of instability.” Hell, I myself converged onto Hawaii to escape the unbelievable humidity of Louisiana. And this place is already over populated.

Comment on 'Education: Ten weeks to save the world'

Singularity University is doing society a favor by promoting innovative minds as a source of hope for the world’s obvious problems. The cost of 25,0000 dollars for 10 weeks for each student is a costly venture that may prove to be crucial to the world’s survival. The program focuses on the future of specializations rather than on just the history. It sparks interest in the minds of the participants and ignites motivation to ‘harness the power of exponential technologies.’ This mission is intended to improve the lives of one billion people within the next decade. Students from Ethiopia to Romania are even working on ways for democratization of energy. The extraordinary prospect of 78 students from 35 countries uniting to save the world of its troubles brings smile to my face. Inspiring young minds to use their talents and gifts to change the world as we know it is the key to expounding on the more efficient use of the world’s resources. It is time to move out of the fossil fuel stone age and reinvent our future with the innovative technologies that conserve rather than deplete the world’s resources. I applaud SU for their vision and illuminating light that envelope the minds of those that have the potential to help the Earth. This is where our hope lies: In the unity of people that are like minded in preserving what God has given us.

Comment on 'Raga Unveiled'

The History of Hindustani North Indian Classical Music has definitely been preserved throughout the years. The India culture, history, and evolution is learned and experienced in music melodies that touch an outsider’s heart. India’s “living identity” is expressed through the instrumental and vocal sounds of celebratory music. Once the instructor opens his mouth with the sounds of his heart, the musicians are immediately backing it up with their instruments. It is an amazing display of coordination and unity that flows like the currents of the sea. Amazing! If only the people of the world could come together like this to combat the environmental disasters of human technology. Alas, North India is a third world country that may be oblivious to the declining health of the earth.

Comment on 'How Much Global Warming Is Guaranteed Even If We Stopped Building Coal-Fired Power Plants Today?'

David Biello brings up a very interesting point about Global Warming. Like the words in my blog web page state, there is still hope for an ensuing environmental disaster. Biello agrees by stating, "Humanity has yet to reach the point of no return when it comes to catastrophic climate, change, according to new calculations. That being said, the infrastructure must change. CO2 must be captured to preserve the atmosphere as we know it. Unfortunately, we are still adding to the old infrastructure which relies on fossil fuel as the main energy source. By 2060, there will be 496 billion metric tons of CO2 added to the atmosphere. Humanity is obviously on the wrong track when it comes to consuming energy. God help us! And it is not just America; China contributes a 1/3 of the harmful global emissions. It is definitely a world-wide epidemic that needs to be altered immediately. What a huge responsibility the President of the US has on his shoulders. The people of the world are more concerned about making the next dollar than taking into account the black future of the world via pumping gasoline into the car. We as a people must demand an alternative to consumption of energy. We must individually take the necessary action to alter our own way of living to accommodate the natural order of things. We must do our part. We must recycle; buy hybrids; plant a tree; participate in new technologies that capture rather than emit CO2 in the process of producing energy. The burden should be on each individual:  Not the president alone.

Comment on 'Cosmic Clowning: Stephen Hawking's "new" theory of everything'

That is absolutely amazing that someone has finally replaced the great Isaac Newton as the new Lucasian Professor of Mathematics. Stephen Hawking definitely has the right to joke around with his colleagues struggling to pin point the origin of life as we know it. Hawking has gained a lot of knowledge throughout the years despite his physical condition. It seems that his mind has compensated for his physical disability. Unfortunately, with much knowledge come many discoveries about the universe that cannot be explained no matter how advanced our technology becomes. Stephen Hawking is a great man that has lost his better half (i.e., his wife) for the mere pride of pursuing an irrevocable theory to disclaim God himself. Of course, this is not possible. No one will truly no the mind of God, because ours are just simply too minute. Hawking is a great and extraordinary man that needs no introduction. I hope he does complete his unified theory only to become aware that it is still just a theory and not the facts.

Comment on 'Somebody Needs a Hug…over the Internet. Creepy or Awesome?'

It looks like the theory of mind control is becoming a reality for the Western culture. The technology of today and the amazingly new scientific breakthroughs are bringing mankind to the brink of a whole new reality. The scientist, Adrian D. Cheok who was born and raised in Adelaide Australia, graduated in engineering with a PhD to later become a bonafide genius. The reality technology that he came with to alter the thinking of the brain is a very innovative and dangerous tool that should only be utilized by our government's top secret agencies. To allow such potential technology to be evenly distributed throughout the world would only disrupt the social balance of actually interacting with our neighbors on a physical and emotional level. I applaud him for his ventures and strongly caution crossing the line of no return in a world that already stairs at a digital box or laptop for most of a given day. Social interaction must be preserved at all cost; therefore, technology must take a back seat to actual face to face experiences. Bottom line: Vis`-a-vis´is the only way for me!
